Foster Care
Our new foster care program is ready to go and we need your help for take off! The program has four categories: Litters, Medical Attention, Adoptable, and Temporary Shelter. The latter two are the newest categories.
Adoptable dogs can benefit from foster care because it reduces their chances for kennel stress and increases their chances of remaining healthy. This category benefits the shelter because it frees up space for us to house another dog. The temporary shelter foster program will allow us the opportunity to assist community members in times of crises so that we may be able to temporarily house their pets.
We provide all food, toys, crates and veterinary care. You provide a safe and loving environment.
We are in need of foster homes for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Other situations include animals too young to be weaned, recovering from illness or surgery, or when the shelter population may be over-capacity.
As the only strictly "open-door" shelter in the state, we never turn animals away or put them on a waiting list to gain access to our services. As a result, we face a constant struggle to keep the shelter population manageable. It is our goal that no adoptable animal should lose its life due to lack of space in our shelter.
We currently maintain a 99% placement rate of adoptable animals, but we need your help to reach 100%. For more information or to sign up as a foster home for animals in need, contact the shelter at 802-476-3811 or download an application.
